If you're a "lurker" of this discussion board and haven't registered as of yet, you may be wondering, "What's in it for me if I open an account?" Well, here's a list of everything you will be able to do if you join...

Idea Post new forum topics, or reply to existing ones. This includes starting a poll within a topic or adding the topic to the Events Calendar.

Idea Vote in polls. (Note: Did you know that most polls don't publicly display who voted for what? This is a great way to participate if you don't feel comfortable in posting topics/replies.)

Idea Rate posts — basically give a post a thumbs up or thumbs down. (Note: New registered citizens have to wait seven days before this ability kicks in.) Also you will be able to view the most recent post ratings, as well as the highest ranked posts, topics or citizens.

Idea Create a profile — let everyone in our community know something about you and the various ways to contact you or socially network with you (via Twitter, Facebook, etc.). As part of this, you can upload your avatar (image of you or whatever you like) and the board software will size it down for you. You can even set your posting signature that continually lets everyone know who you are and what you do (kind of like a business card).

Idea Receive LouHI's monthly e-mail newsletter. Always know what's going on at Louisville History & Issues. (Note: You can also find these newsletters on LouHI's Facebook page in the Notes section.)

Idea Watch forums for new topics and/or replies. Receive an e-mail notification immediately after a new topic or reply is posted to the forum or forums that you select.

Idea Watch specific topics for replies. Receive an e-mail notification immediately after the reply is posted.

Idea View the entire list of registered citizens and read their profiles. Also see the list of "who is online" and the part of the board they are currently looking at.

Idea Send and receive private messages. This is a great way to discuss issues and board matters with others when doing it publicly doesn't feel right.

Idea Search topics and posts based on who was the author.

Idea Shut off various features that you may not care for, such as display of board logo images, featured topics, avatars in topics, and advanced tooltips, or whether smart field focusing is engaged.

Excited yet? Dancing Well, open an account then!
