21st Century Parks and Metro Government to Host Public Meeting on Upcoming Parks Projects
Louisville, Ky.— 21st Century Parks, the nonprofit group leading the creation and management of a new, 4,000-acre public parks system along the Floyds Fork watershed, and Louisville Metro Government are seeking public input on potential park improvements. A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 16, from 6–7 p.m., at the Lodge in Lake Forest subdivision, 511 Woodlake Drive, Louisville, 40245.
Representatives of 21st Century Parks and Metro Government will be on hand to answer questions and park renderings will be on display.
Louisville Metro Government and 21st Century Parks are partnering to apply for a Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant to support the development of public trails in William F. Miles Park, part of the larger parks system being created by 21st Century Parks along Floyds Fork. Also included in the grant application is funding for trail developments at Louisville Metro Parks’ Waverly Park property in southwest Jefferson County.
In addition to the LWCF grant, 21st Century Parks is applying for a Recreational Trails Program grant to develop enhanced hiking, biking and pedestrian trails in Miles Park.
The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and Recreational Trails Programs provide matching grants to state and local governments for the acquisition and development of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities.
